Question V/R filter on King Airs?

I was just wondering whether anyone out there can tell me what these V and R filter switches are on the audio panel of our King Air. Nothing is mentioned in the Flight Manual, and none of our Check & Training guys know either.

Our King Air was originally delivered to the U.S Navy, so I'm suspecting they may have something to do with the VLF Omega, or some military radio system like UHF or IFF.

Anyone know?

Freddy,
If my recollection serves well V=Voice and R=Range.
These functions apply when tuning a nav aid such as a VOR. In V mode you will receive the ATIS without the ident breaking through. In R mode you will receive the IDENT without the ATIS. In the central position you will receive both.
