I’m getting old as I forgot to add that some restrictions put upon F/O and for that matter Capt duties are governed by the Governing states operating license issued to each airline. In my airline the Capt cannot hand fly any Cat11 or Cat111 approach; he must use both the autopilot and auto land with even the overshoot conducted by the autopilot. I’m sure that the majority knows that the F/O cannot even look up or take a peek, as that would constitute a ride failure for both of us. So what I’m saying is that it may not be such a simple matter as letting the F/O do it under any conditions as the potential legal aspects could be devastating to your company.

Just a thought..

P.S. We have a few 40-year-old F18 pilots sitting as cruise pilots with little chance of ever sitting LS on the heavy metal in the present slump. So if you’re in the RS and still having fun, enjoy it, because they would change places with you in a flash.

Take care out there..
