B737-3/4/5 Fire Extinguishers
I'm under the impression that if you have an inop battery charger and flat battery on a B737 EG you also lose the fire extinguishers, as they are connected to the hot battery bus. Or does the battery bus back up the hot battery bus in this case? Can anyone shed any light on this? Been a burning issue for me recently!!!
Cheers.

I seem to remember that the fire extinguisher and detection systems are connected to the battery bus so require the battery to be turned on. If the batt charger was u/s and batt flat then you would not have any fire protection/detection.

Bush is right.
The detection is on the battery bus which is powered even if the battery is flat.
Protection is on the hot battery bus wich bets unpowered in the battery is dead.
Therefore if the charger fails and the battery gets flat one has detection but no protection.
I don't know how it is in the 737NG but on the classics (300-500) it was like that, cant imagine it is any different on the NG's
