777 LIM SPD DES

Hi all,

The other day, we started the descent from FL400 by selecting VS and M.84. The VNAV DES page showed ACT LIM SPD DES. Given this was a 200, and we were 0.03 below MMO, can somebody explain why it considered this speed to be envelope limiting?

Thanks in advance

I don’t think it’s the SPEED that is envelope limited but the SEGMENT of the descent that is envelope limited.
I can’t find the definition, but this was also seen on the 787 during the early stages of descent from high altitude.

Thanks. What do you mean by the segment was envelope limiting?
