Airbus Assembly outside Europe
Hi all,
Random question.. anyone know who the components for the A320 are transported to Mobile, US and Tianjin, China for assembly? Clearly not the Beluga fleet!
TIA

Airbus has its own fleet of chartered ships and ordered three new ones for the transport to Mobile. https://www.airbus.com/en/newsroom/s...ransport-fleet. Ships are used to Tianjin as well, but i haven't found much information there.

I did a fair bit of work on the Mobile site. You have a major interstate and railway on one side, a large modern harbor on the other and lots of room on the airfield.
It is a great location. Boeing looked at it very hard for the 787 plant that went to Charleston.

It was a few years ago but the buildings I worked on were the Final Assembly Line and the Paintshop, which was I believe actually another company. I would expect that there will be manufacturing done there at some point, and maybe already is. There is aerospace and rocket work done in the region. My guess would be A220 series work as that is also built in Montreal will be moved incrementally to the Mobile region. The Montreal operation is sadly likely doomed.
