Airborne Filming in Adverse Conditions

Trying to find some feedback on airborne filming. Anyone used something like an M1 Shotover or used something better/cheaper? There's an article at filmsetmonthly.com with front mounted camera being used in the Antarctic. There are some tec details but think there may be other options? Any advice gratefully received!
