Experiences about in-ear headsets.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to open a thread about in-ear and light weight aviation headsets to share experiences.
As far as I know there are 7 of them commercially available as of this year 2022.
They are:
Quiettechnologies
Faroaviation
Axisheadset
Cqheadset
Bose
Clarityaloft
Ufqaviation
I have been using Clarity Aloft for 10 years in Boeing 737. I was very happy but the plastics and earplug cables have ben peeled. One cable even got torn but I fixed it myself. The headset has almost become unusable.
Are there any pilots using any of them and wants to share experiences?

Hey! I'm also interested, most go for the Clarity Aloft, however I did buy the Hi-Lite UFQ headset which had ANR. Good headset but felt cheaply built and it hung down at the back of my head and caught on my collar every now and again - so much so that it was annoying and I generally don't use it any more. Back to the A20s. Which is a pest, because the ANR was actually very good and just as good as bose.
All other competitors just use passive noise cancelling, not ANR.
I messaged AXIS to get some info, and they said that because of the way you can shape the headband, the collar issue shouldn't be a thing with their headset.
Not bought another one yet, I wish there were more stockists of this kind of headset in the UK. I reckon i'll try before I buy another, so it'll need to tie in with a trip to the states.

A techo point to consider. First, I'm an aero engineer, not avionics, so it's a bit out of my paddock. I suggest that folks run the use of non-standard kit past the tech services group in your airline just to make sure that there is no electrical/audio concern which might make a particular piece of kit unsuitable for your particular aircraft configuration.
