B777 ENG Failure / Airlines settlements?

Hi folks,

It seems 777-200 operators will have their planes back on the air soon.

As an airline insurance coordinator, I am curious to see if airlines would try to allege court claims for any losses suffered due to the grounding of B777-200 with PW4000 engines.

I do not wish to jump into conclusions since the FAA or the NTSB has not finalized the cause of the failure. Nevertheless, it would seem quite ideal for the airlines to stage a settlement request if the manufacturer is held liable.

On the other hand, I have heard rumors that there have been no cases against the manufacturers alleged by the airlines in the past. Would there be any past court settlements that may remark on the PW4000 engine failure?

If this is a topic unfit for the forum, please let me know. Thanks!
