Boeing 737 Modes Question

If I'm flying a VOR radial outbound, in VOR/LOC roll mode and ALT HOLD pitch mode, CMD A active.....when the aircraft falls out of range of the VOR and no more signals are picked up.....which roll mode it defaults to ? According to Boeing 737 CBT it would default to CWS R and a yellow CWS R message would light up on the PFD (not in the FMA area but below the FMA area). Can you confirm this actually happens on the real aircraft?
Many thanks.

Can’t confirm that exact scenario as I’ve never tried it, but CWS R is the usual reversal if your roll mode falls out.

If the FMC fails in LNAV, the plane reverts to CWS-R. This would be similar.

This is pretty academic, though.
