Boeing/Honeywell ADS-C and Waypoint Sequencing

2 related questions:

If you execute a route offset of more than 21 NM and fly in LNAV, will the waypoints correctly? Systems manual implies no, stating that "during transition to or from an offset route greater than 21 NM, the crosstrack limit is extended to 200 NM". What does crosstrack limit mean in this context? What if you execute the > 21 NM route offset but instead of remaining in LNAV are flying in HDG SEL? Will waypoints sequence?

If you are deviating more than 21 NM in HDG SEL or HDG HOLD due to weather (in which case the waypoints won't sequence), what is the best way to manually sequence the waypoints on your route as you pass abeam them in order to facilitate accurate ADS-C reporting? Should you bring the next waypoint into L1 and select a course intercept consistent with your airway or cleared route at R6?

Thanks. Yes, I should know this, etc.

If you are on a offset, that offset is your active route (and if you look at crosstrack, the FMC shows you how far away from that route you are). So if you are within 21nm of the route, either side of your dashed magenta line, waypoints will sequence, if you are further than 21 miles they will not.

I cannot explain the 200 mile note.

Your idea of an intercept course with a direct to a waypoint to make things sequence if you are further than 21 miles only work partly. That is not going to get the ADS position sent to ATC from the "active wpt" that was showing that you were going to it, but it now actually behind you as you passed abeam it and you are getting further away from it but still "going to it". So use the the offset function.....
