Regional Jet with the longest range

Which regional jet has the longest range? Also which is the longest route flown by a regional.

Lastly, how soon before we see smaller jets on international routes - or will they only get bigger?

We're already seeing this change of guage, to some extent. Continental has been flying narrowbodies across the pond ofor some years now. Lufthansa just recently began EWR-FRA, operated by PrivatAir using a 737-700.

Read an interview with the Boeing master salesman, Seddik Belyamani, on the recent occasion of his retirement. He was reflecting on change in the industry, and he commented on how the new Boeing narrow bodies are just about the same capacity as the intercontinetal jets of old.

The 737-800 (and -700, -900) are just about equivalent to the early 707s in terms of range and pax capacity.

737-800: 2940nm with reserves for the high gross weight version, with up to 189 pax.
707-120B: 3128nm with reserves and max payload, and max pax 179.

Wasn't there something about the certification of the 737NGs relying too heavily on the grandfather clause? Does this mean that the Boeing sonic cruiser will be termed the 737-950, and be certificated under the grandfather clause
