A320 engine start external air
hey folks, new on the 320,
to start the engine using external HP (or crossbleed), must the mode select be at ign/start or remain at norm? refer to supp. proc./engine/...
if so, why does the fcom just say engine.....start iso engine mode select.......ign, engine master sw.........on, etc. ? seems not to be in line with the other sop.
Thank you!

Ignition/Start.......start process is the same as normal just using a different source of air than the APU supply and with air x-bleed selected to open.

My FCOM just says "Use the normal engine start procedure" for the first engine and "Apply the normal engine start procedure" for the second engine.
We leave the engine mode selector at Normal. FADEC does all that is required with the position of the ENG Master switch and on ground logic.
However, if the external pneumatic power group only delivers low pressure, then we use IGN/START position.
