EASA Type rating/ IR renewal rules
Hi guys, sorry not sure where to post this.
With an EASA ATPL and type rating/IR, can I renew my type rating in the sim 2 months before the official expiry date and still keeping the original expiry date?
For example if my type rating expires 31st July, can I have my licence proficiency check in the sim on the 30th May and still have my type rating expiry 31st July the following year?
Thanks

3 months, and it's a revalidation if rating is still valid, renewal if rating has expired.
"Renew your rating
ATO assessment
To renew your rating, you must report to an approved training organisation (ATO) for an assessment to see whether you can undergo a proficiency check to renew the rating immediately or whether you will need to take refresher training first."
"Revalidate your rating
If your rating will expire within three months, you can apply directly to take a proficiency check at an ATO to have the rating revalidated, without having to take an assessment first."
Hope this helps!

You always have 3 months (including the expiry month) to revalidate type/class ratings. In your case, you can do your proficiency check in May, June and July while keeping the 31.07 validity date.
