737 aft cargo temp
Hi,
Has anyone got an idea of what the temp would be in the aft cargo hold after three hours in the cruise?
I understand that there is no recirc air distributed through the lining like the fwd cargo hold and from what I read in the FCOM it appears there is only limited airflow from the cabin.
Anybody know?
cheers

Well it would depend on what temp you had selected in the main cabin. There is pretty good airflow from the cabin through the sidewall grills down to the skin around the rear hold and then rearwards to the outflow valve.

Our airline did some trials on this a few years ago in the interest of figuring out if animals could be loaded in compartment 4. On a 4 hour flight with normal OAT at FL390 the minimum recorded temp was 3,8 deg C. Gives a ball park I guess? It was without insulating bags and measured at a hight where the center of an animal cage would be.
