Psst buddy, can you teach me to fly an airliner?

Actually, whenever I see a picture of an IL-62 flight deck there are two control wheels on the Captain's side-- one honking big control yoke, and then a smaller one. What do they do? Is the small one the nosewheel tiller and the big one the conventional up & down, round & round thing?
