UK Runway Braking Action Trial

A few years ago several UK airports participated in a trial regarding braking action on runways. Where did this get to? It seems UK airports have a 'clear runway' policy, compared to other EU airports where a few mm or even cm of snow is ok!
Also, anyone know the likely cost of clearing and de-icing a runway? A certain airport always seems to manage to clear it for a certain type of operator...
