G-XLEA D-check after 4 years ?
G-XLEA went to Manila maintenance facility about a month ago.
Previous C-checks were taking about 20 days. This is the second trip to maintenance for XLEA (which is less than four years old).
Do 2nd C-checks often take longer ?
Surely they wouldn't be doing a D-check after less than 4 years ?

That rather depends on what's found during the check (cracks, corrosion, etc).
I suspect that the fact it's BA's first A380 C-2 check (and only the second check Lufthansa Technik Philippines has done for them) may be a factor too.

Don't know the maintenance schedule for this, but most aircraft have C checks of varying intensity about every 2 years, rather than D checks.
Back in the day, BCAL used to do D checks on the B707s every 4 years or 16000 hrs. IIRC>
