FAA announces ADS-B data link decision
The much awaited data link decision for ADS-B (automatic dependent surveillance broadcast) was announced by the FAA on July 1. See the press release and the decision itself at
http://www.faa.gov/asd/
When implemented with a cockpit display of traffic information (CDTI), better situational awareness will be available to the pilots (with the proper equipment, of course). Also, in the future, additional applications and procedure changes resulting in more safety and efficiency are expected.

Take a look on thisPress Release .
It seems in the medium/long term the duty of both, pilots and controllers, will consists in surveil air-to-groung electronic devices working properly.
Any help improving safety in the crowded skies will be welcome.
