Ansett Boeing 727-200 / Advanced / LR

Can someone tell me what the difference is between them.

727-200 v 727-200 Advanced v 727-200 Advanced LR

I am confused here

Think the 727 Advances had some tech upgrades including uprated JD8D's and two options were offered.

One with more range than the 727-200 and another with about an additional 700 NM range which was called the LR - Long Range. Think . . this is correct.

Think Ansett had only four of these ANA/B/C/ and F is that correct ?

I flew into Brisbane on Ansett's last 727 flight aboard ANB. Think Capt Griffiths.

Wikipedia does a good job of explaining the differences between the 727-200 and the -200 Advanced.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boeing_727#727-200

And, as I think we've discussed already, the 727 LR was just the Advanced with the optional palletised belly tanks for increased range (at the expense of payload and baggage space, obviously).

The Ansett 4 LRs had:
Omega Navigation
Autothrottle
Autobrakes
Fwd aux fuel tanks
Aft aux fuel tanks

(Both aux tanks were fixed units, removable, but not palletised.)

Capt Lionel Griffiths sadly passed away about 3or 4 years ago. I flew with him on a delivery flight (VH-ANF) to Miami after they were sold by Ansett.

Bigslim

Most of them returned to Auz as freighters.

On the ansett long range 727 the aux tanks water drains , were a bugger to seal off , so were given a miss on a short turn around -------------next time-------------
