NG Altenate Flaps Procedure

Hi

A limiting speed of 230kts is given for extending the TE FLAPS/ LE SLATS AND FLAPS.

Can I ask why and is for it extension only, I.e a goaround are you then limited to 230kts for diversion?

Thank you

235kts is the limiting speed for Full EXT LED thats why you need to be at 230kts before using the ALTN Flap EXT procedure. Remember the LED will retract but not the slats so you will be limited to 250kts if you divert.

Thank you,

Can Ask where is the 235kts restriction cited? Agree that 230kts is the limiting speed for extension.

You cannot retract LE devices on 737 if you only have the alternate flaps system available. That's why you will see the following note in the QRH whenever you need to use alternate flaps:

Note: The drag penalty with the leading edge devices extended may make it impossible to reach an alternate field.
