Ryanair B732 GPS unit.

HI
I know this is irrelevant now but thought I'd ask and hoping some would know. Did Ryanair 737-200 fly with some sort of gps system for did they file VOR to VOR flight plan. If they did fly gps anybody know wat one they used.

Thank you.

Yes, it got fitted with a 2 line read out GPS unit, that was good for b-rnav (above fl95). It's default display showed track made good, desired track, ground speed and eta. If you played with it and input some more values it could calculate the wind up there, but if atc asked for a wind check, by the time you had done it you would have landed or changed sector! At the time non of us had a manual for it so it was trial and error but it worked. SIDS etc were all old school needles and head scratching!
