A320-214 CFM IGNITION

Hello, I just started flying CFM's and noticed the ECAM MEMO does not display IGNITION when slats are extended or when engine anti-ice is selected. The FCOM, is see the pilots are selecting manual ignition. I wonder weather the ignition is working even though the memo is not displaying.

Thanks

Nope, CFM is virtually indestructible and doesn't need the tender and loving care demanded by IAEs.

You are correct in thinking that the FADEC can automatically bring the igniters on without the ECAM memo, but this would only be in extreme cases if it detected an impending flame-out.

Guess which I prefer.

I take it then that CFM doesnt require ignition during a normal approach or in icing conditions.

The CFM engine has models A and B on the A320.
The B engines have dual annular combustion chambers.

This engine doesn't require igniters on with engine anti-ice on.

I don't know why though.

Hope that helps.

Our procedures are heavy turbulence or heavy water ingestion. Other than that, leave it in normal.
