Question Belfast Flightpaths

Am I right in thinking that the arrivals / departures from Belfast City have changed recently? Seen a number of BE Dash 8s taking off on 22 and then swinging right over the city centre before turning north up the left hand side of the lough. Also seen an ATP approaching 04 over this route.
Just curious.

probably to keep the outbound dash from having to fly through the inbounds from the south east ...it is just another way of utilising the airspace more effectively, especially if the dash was enroute to Newcastle. As for the ATP it may well have been joining on a left hand downwind leg for a visual approach to 04 and thereby saving track miles .
