Blue HYD Elec PP A330

In normal conditions, the green and yellow HYD PPs are in auto. The blue is in stby. The function of all is fundamentally the same. Any reason then for the changed nomenclature ?

That's because in the older aircrafts the blue electric pump does not switch on automatically. For no reason. Hence in STBY mode.

While:
-The G HYD ELEC pump switches on automatically for 25s (in flt) to retract the gear in case of an engine failure.
-The Y HYD ELEC pump switches on automatically in case of engine 2 failure and the FLAP lever is not in 0.

only on the newer versions the B HYD ELEC pump switches on automatically in case of:
- engine 1 failure and PRIM 1 or 3 failure.

hope it helps.
