EGPH 06 ILS

The current NOTAM for the 06 ILS at Edinburgh is:

RWY 06 ILS GP MAY NOT MAINTAIN FULL SCALE FLY UP INDICATIONS WHEN LEFT OF THE LOCALISER CENTERLINE AND BELOW GLIDEPATH

My reading of that is that if left of the localiser and radically below the glide path, the ILS may be erroneous. But does that mean that the ILS is still reliable if only marginally below the glide path?

Anybody know what might be the cause of this anomaly?

Surely if you are in the situation when you have a full fly up indication you would be abandoning the approach.

Point of this notam is, you won't get a full fly up indication. Hence you may set a bottom line of 'should we exceed a dot low then we will go around in IMC'.

I think perhaps the point is that during a LOC intercept from the North it may well look like you're approaching the GS sooner than you actually are.

You shouldn't be relying on the glide path indication until established on the localiser, at which point the indications will be correct.

Snoop Spoiled meat! DO NOT TOUCH!

The ILS is out of serviceˇ DON'T USE IT!
Coming from North and West the localizer will be centered too early! DANGER!
Coming from anywhere the glide will be centered too low! DANGER!

Snoop

@Wing_Bound_Vortex, BOAC,
Perhaps "usable" with other DH but "protected" areas and volumes are no more protected!

Obviously you are not. Hopefully you do not fly for a living.

EDIT: Judging by the silence, I think we have rumbled him!

Other notams mention a crane in operation at various points W > NW of the runway. Metal structure bolluxing the GS signal?
