ELT registration protocol
Hi Folks,
Does anyone know the protocol for registering an Emergency Location Transmitter?
The case being:
Aircraft registered in the Cayman Islands, based in the UK but when the ELT was interrogated with IFR 4000 test equipment was found to be registered in the US (Country Code)
UK Coastguard require ELT to be UK coded before it can be registered with them.
Should it be recoded for the UK and registered with the Coastguard?
Should it be recoded for the Cayman Islands and registered with there authority ?
Should it remain coded for the US and registered with NOAA?
I would have thought if it lives in the UK and operates mostly around UK waters, then in the interests of the crew and pax, UK registration would be a good thing.
Your thoughts please !
