VTOL UK TV Programme
Suprised that there has been no discussion of the ITV (UK) programme on Sunday night called Ultimate Jump Jets about VTOL aircraft and the Harrier in particular.
Some fascinating footage of some of the early experiments (and disasters).
Does anybody know who the brave soul was 'flying' the bedstead and did he have an ejector seat? It was basically an engine on a frame with vectored thrust and a man sitting on the top! Seemed amazingly controllable.
Test flying has always had a large element of danger but some of the early VTOL prototype experiments looked suicidal.
