Pitot-Static Chambers

Pitot-Static Chambers

Hi there,

Can anyone advise on the physics behind using pitot and static chambers in the pitot-static probe vs direct plumbing into the avionic mems sensors? Does it act as a pressure buffer? If so, to what effect?
