Boeing 77W or Boeing777-300ER

When being asked by ATC of aircraft type, should we say Boeing 77W or Boeing 777-300ER?

Either.

77W is the ICAO identifier that identifies it as a 300ER.

I've yet to have ATC say "follow the 77W". They do say "follow the 777-300."

It's relevant as a lot of FIRs charge according to weight, and also because the 300 is D catagory, while the 200 is C.

When asked I usually give my type by the ICAO identifier for brevity, but I'm sure using the "Full" name would work too.
