Recovering form ELEC EMER CONFIG A330

Good afternoon to all:

Whilst reviewing the A330 ELEC EMER CONFIG scenario, I came across one of those doubts that gets ones ticker go mad!

The question is as follows:

If I happen to restore ALL generators, a specific ECAM pos-up. This leads me to reset FCMC 1+2......

Next, as usual, I will consider computer resets (if any) and expanded checklists (if time allows), following that the STATUS will be reviewed.

According to my FCOM:

ELEC EMER CONFIG (Cont'd)
(GEN 1 OR/AND GEN 2 RECOVERED OR APU GEN AVAILABLE))
, for slat extension, LAND RECOVERY must be pressed (to recover AC and DC LAND RECOVERY busses, in order to power SFCC1 LGCIU1 etc etc...), and then the procedure goes on to.... FOR LANDING GEAR GRAVITY EXTENSION........ ????

Why is this last bit included in the STATUS??? If I have recovered the entire ELEC rig, including the land recovery busses, why would I want to extend the gear by gravity, hence loosing NWS?

As far as I understand, only one bus will be de-energized, even when LAND RECOVERY is pressed, this bus will be the AC ESS GND, however according to my FCOM, no part of the landing gear, brakes, nws etc... is powered by this bus....

Can anyone bring some light on this matter?

Many thanks,

Alberto

I'm not familiar with A330, but does the green hyd serve the emer gen?

If so, it may be a good idea not to risk any hyd loss and extend the gear via gravity.

Fctm

The landing gear must be extended by gravity and Nose Wheel Steering is lost in all cases. When the Emergency Generator is powered by EDP, this avoids strong fluctuation of the green hydraulic pressure which may cause a spurious disconnection of the Emergency Generator.

Quote from FCTM .

Thankyou mutley320

You are absolutely correct. Sometimes one forgets about some of the stuff already read. It is so important to reed, reed and reed! Specially with the Airbus (thats what I believe anyway)!!
