using uns-1m on approaches

What is the best way to avoid problems and "dis" messages with this box, following the manual and flying it are two different things.

I use the UNS-1ESp and am not familiar with what you mean by 'dis' messages - can you expand and also state what problems you are having?

Used the 1M for years

Never had any problems with it. IIRC, after you load an approach, you may get find there is discontinuity inserted between the flight plan and the approach. Not a problem, delete it if you wish, or leave it there and do a Direct To the IAF (once cleared). The approach label is not a discontinuity; the unit sequences past the label without a problem.
