Boeing flight deck colors?

Flew the 727 with the grey cockpit, that was fine, the MD80 with green, that was awful, then the 757/67 with the brown, I liked that the most by far, Boeing knew what they were doing

That very question was posed to one of the Senior Boeing test pilots when they have a presentation in Dubai a good few years ago. The answer: "Earth tones were in vogue"! Also, something to do with brown being a family easy colour on the eye.

Possibly that it was from a different vendor? A bit like the switches on the newer aircraft being slightly recessed, or was it the other way round? It's been three years since I left EK...

I prefer the brown flight deck because it meant I had moved up from the B737 to B757/767!
