PMDG NGX - The future is here

Hi folks,

I just want to bring to your attention that PMDG, a specialist flight simulation company, are soon to release their latest creation - PMDG 737NGX. The systems and graphics representation is going to set a new standard, as you will see in the link below which should be viewed in HD if possible. This is going to prove a useful toolset to aspiring and actual airline pilots alike, allowing all kinds of emergencies and non-normals to be practised again and again. Before any anti-flight simulator snobs pipe in, please be aware that Boeing have been aiding PMDG with their product by providing actual information on the real aircraft, meaning that even systems as complex as VNAV are modelled with 100% accuracy. And if that doesn't impress you, even Scroggs has admitted to using their products when practising for Virgin sim checks - speaking of whom, you are missed on the forums, come back soon.

Nick’s 737NGX Cockpit Thoughts

Regards

It certainly looks very impressive, but we won't know until we get our hands on a copy.

I noticed a possible error with the Wing Anti-Ice system. The video showed the Wing anti-ice valves not opening because bleed air was not available. It's my understanding from NG wiring schematics that the valves are electric motor-driven, so bleed air "muscle" should not be required.

I'm no expert on the NG, so I stand to be corrected

Correct, wing anti-ice valves are AC motor operated, at least thats what my FCOM say. I have something in my memory about electrically controlled and pneumatically operated, but that might have been the classic or the rest of the pressurization system. Regardless of switch position on the ground they can switch open or closed depending on several input variables, most important ones are thrust setting and temperature inside the wing distribution ducts.

The graphics are stunning in that video, however the simulator is missing a button on the MFD control panel

Tried it today on one of our NGs... No bleed source, but the WAI lights still went to dim (switch on and valve in agreement (open)).

For info this video was made with a beta version, there will be a few changes before final release. But please do mention possible errors regardless, the intention is for 100% accuracy.

Kindly fill us in Denti.

@VC10, i have to admit that i didn't watch the whole video as i do not use the flight simulator anymore since i fly the real thing way too often anyway, was just interested in the whole graphic thing. I missed the recall button the MFD panel (the panel where you dial up the systems or engine page on the lower DU). It is an option that does a recall of the auto land status on the upper DU.
