autopilot b 737 cl

Hello, just one doubt:
I have read on the manual that for engage the autopilot on b737 cl there are 2 criteria to satisfy:
- no force applied to control wheel
-stab trim autopilot cutout switch is normal
My doubt is: if the attitude of the aircraft is completely in disagree with the fd for pitch and track, is possible to engage the autopilot or before it must be in agreement with the fd?

You don't need to have the flight director switched on to operate the automatic pilot.

If you are not following the FD and try to engage the AP it will revert to CWS in the axis not followed.
