the wind forecast does not "affect a system" it rather gives the FM of the FMGS a way to predict FUEL and TIME to waypoints thus your final destination predictions.
Only the TO WAYPOINT gets the current wind from the ADIRS.
How it is done is just MATH Triangle of velocities. TAS, HDG, TRK, Wind, GS.

It affects to the FMGC calculated descent profile.
With a headwind, the profile will be steeper. With a tailwind, shallower.
Try inserting headwinds and tailwinds and see how the T/D moves
