RR Trent 700 idle settings

Is there any way an operator can adjust the idle settings on the A330-200 RR 772B engines (if so by how much)? Having just converted onto the A332 I find the type far more difficult to slow down compared to it's 4 engine sisters.

divinehover;

Perhaps you can safely assume that the flight idle setting of your engine have been selected as low as possible. If you are interested in the main limiting factor, you might wish to look at, for example,
FAR Part 33 - AIRWORTHINESS STANDARDS: AIRCRAFT ENGINES, section 33.73 - Power or thrust response.

Hi,

In short, no you can't change the idle thrust (either ground or flight). The ground idle thrust is set as low as possible during the design phase to reduce brake wear while still maintaining a stable flow through the compressor. The flight idle thrust is set to ensure the engine can accelerate to MTO in a short time to allow an aircraft execute a go around etc..

In general the Trent's have a lower idle thrust than their GE / PW counterparts but we're not talking massive numbers.

All the best,

P2C
