assumed and derated takeoffs

Hi guys

Could someone please explain the difference between assumed temp t/o and the derated t/o in terms of when it can be used and when one could overlap the other etc

nd how it works particularly for the 737

i also read that a derated t/o allows for a higher mtow
could someone phrase it out nicely
thanks
