Heads Up Display

Hi Guys,

I would like to seek your opinion,especially from a pilot's perspective,on the
use of the Heads Up Display (HUD) onboard airliners.

With the advent of the HUD in airliners (i.e E190,737-800,A380 and more recently 787 & A350), as an airline pilot, does it make such a significant difference as opposed to flying without it? Apart from increasing your
situational awareness, are there any other benefits that comes with operating
the HUD in modern airliners?Any particular disadvantages from an operator's perspective, i.e maintenance burden, product unreliability etc. ? Does the advantages far outweigh the disadvantages to justify the installation of the HUD in the modern airliner cockpit?

Please feel free to discuss.Thanks!
