A320 Hydraulic Cooling

Hi there Ladies and Gents,

Had a look through the manuals and can't find where or how the Hydraulic Fluid on an A320 series aircraft is cooled.

From pervious experience, I know 737s have heat exchangers in the fuel tanks. What about the A320s?

Ta!

It doesn't require any additional cooling on the 320, there are merely overheat warnings for the pumps and reservoirs but the design is such that it doesn't need fuel cooling or other external cooling.

Probably explains why heat exchangers aren't mentioned!

I now consider myself schooled!!!

Cheers

No, definitely not.
Look in the FCOM 1.70.40 (or 45) for "IDG Cooling System" .

Looking at 1.70.45 P5, the fuel passes around the IDG Cooler but that diagram is a mess to follow. Airbus manuals!

IDG Cooling

ASFKAP:
You did remember correctly.
As I also remembered this I did some homework for you all, sorry this has deviated from the hyd cooling question.

The Integrated Drive Generator (IDG) oil-cooling system (Ref. 24-21-00) uses part of the fuel supply to each engine. During oil cooling the temperature of the fuel increases. The fuel recirculation for the cooling system (recirculation system) moves the warm fuel from the IDG cooling system to the wing tank.
Each engine has a recirculation pipe which moves the warm fuel to the wing tank. The interface between each IDG oil-cooling system and each recirculation pipe is a Fuel Return Valve (FRV).
The operation of the FRV is controlled by the Full Authority Digital Engine Control (FADEC) system.

Back on line

I am nitpicking but the "IDG cooling line" do NOT pass through the fuel tank.
