Hi all:
This one is been around for a while, couldnt come up with an answer though...why does the QRH state that the autothrottle may disengage when using alternate Flaps? lots of theories but nothing definite

The thrust managment system uses the flap handle and flap position input as part of the minimum speed protection logic.
The autothrottle will disconnect if the trailing edge flaps are extended beyond 10 degrees by the alternate extention system while the flap handle is in the up position.
