Installation of cameras at airport towers
I'm interested to know why it is not mandated to have cameras (CCTV) pointing at runways. If an accident or incident occurs, then playback could be used to determine the reason. Take a look at the latest at Mangalore. Weather conditions were suitable, however there are statements that the aircraft landed long. Witnesses sometimes exaggerate their stories to make them more interesting. A camera would have shown exactly where the touchdown occurred and if reversers were deployed and so on.
The incident at Melbourne some time ago showed a CCTV footage of the EK 345 with sparks displayed at the far end of the runway.
Just my 3 fils worth!
Oz out.

I fully endorse this view.
I can think of no reason ( finances, technical or regulatory) which may contradict this.
In fact this should be made compulsory. the gain in security, accident, incident analysis, training etc will be tremendous.
