No, 18-wheeler..

..it was a waste of space, time and bandwidth...particularly since there's no such word as "baril".

Nice one, Beryl (or is that Cyril?)

flyprototype, thanks... I like that song actually, and hadn't heard it for ages.

Wing Root, thanks to you too!
Interesting seeing it done on the A320 sim.
Still doesn't answer the question if it was ever done on a real A320.

The PF on that sim was wrong on two counts, of course....
One, barrel rolls have been done with thumping big aeroplanes, like the 707 and Concorde, to quote the best known, and two, if done by an expert, the passenger won't even really notice, and certainly not spill their gin and tonic.

CJ

PS Oh, and... a 'baril' is a barrel in French... so he weren't off more than summat, err.
Except that the French term for a barrel roll is a "tonneau barrique"....

That was my dear friend Alan Dix (still going...just).

He was correct in that it might be able to be done in a real aircraft - I am not aware of any attempts - but simulators are individual beasts. Remember: they are on jacks and can only simulate so much. The one at Burgess Hill c.2002, for example, did a wonderful spiral dive instead of a spin but recovered in classic style with anti-spin controls.

Fun indeed.
