Main source of power is a 200A starter generator. System voltage is 28.5V. Starting power is provided by a ship battery or external power. The two battery options are either a 24V 45AH lead acid battery or an optional 24V 40AH nicad battery.

There are five buses - a battery bus, two general buses and two avionics buses.

The battery bus powers circuits which are kept alive irrespective of the position of the battery switch.

The two general busses are each fed by self isolating triple feeds. Systems are spread between the two buses to improve redundancy - eg primary flap on one bus, standby flap on the other bus.

There are two avionics busses, each which are fed by a single self isolating feed, an avionics tie switch allows the two busses to be tied together. Most essential avionics are on Avionics 1 - so in the event of an electrical problem it is easy to shed electrical load.

A optional standby alternator system is fairly common on vans - however it has limited capacity of 75 amps. Power from the standby alternator can be feed into each of the general buses and avionics bus 1.

Vans fitted with the KFC250 flight control system also have inverters as well.

That's the basics of the electrical system - further information can be found in the POH.
