transavia.com is subjecting part of its fleet to a preventive inspection with regard to possible hail damage. Hail damage was discovered on one aircraft during normal maintenance activities conducted in the hangar. Since this may have been caused by the brief but severe hailstorm at Schiphol during the night of 25 to 26 May, transavia.com has decided to inspect all the aircraft that were on the ground at Schiphol that night.

Because flight safety is our first priority, it was decided to subject all these aircraft to this inspection as quickly as possible. Any damage found will be repaired before these aircraft are flown again.

In terms of our scheduling, this is a very unpleasant situation indeed. Many passengers will be confronted with a change in flight schedule, and delays will be unavoidable. At worst, the possibility of cancellations cannot be excluded.

transavia.com is doing everything to resolve this problem as effectively and as quickly as possible.

Passengers who booked through a travel agency can contact their travel organisation and follow the latest developments on teletext. Passengers who booked their ticket themselves at transavia.com will be informed by transavia.com at the website.
Does anybody know what was damaged exactly ? The entire operation is taking longer then expected due to a lack of spare parts.

Goedenavond Optimus,

different Dutch media reporting that the Transavia airframes have damage caused by hail "to the moveable parts of the wings".

I guess that would be the trailing edge flaps (slats not so likely me thinks)

Peculiar that no other airlines report damage to their aircraft...

The hail was very local. Some planes even only had damage on one wing. Most damage was on the spoiler panels where the honeycomb structure was damaged and some delamination occurred. There were several other operators that had damaged a/c including KLM.

The hail was most intense around the C-gates, where most Transavia a/c are parked during the night.
