High Vibes?
I was reading in an Aviation Week & Space Technology magazine that SIA were having high vibration problems with their Trent 900s on their A380s.
They have changed out some engines.
Would anyone have any more information as to the root cause of the vibration problem?
Thanks.

Dont know, but I can confirm as a pax that there was quite a lot of virbration on the floor on the lower deck just forward of the wing.
I was very surprised to notice it, I personally thought it was a vibrating fairing panel around the wing root area.

Don't know about what Service Bulletins might be out on the A380, but in the past most high vibration problems have been traced back to engine accessory pumps supplied by the airframe maker setting up coinicidental vibratory modes in the cabin at specfic seat row locations. Yes it's unique to the engine model and its configuration and a real pain in the A$$ to troubleshoot.
