Right Ascension of Apparent Sun

No. GPS not required. Just a bubble sextant.

Sorry mate. I just had to do it.

RAAS System description indicates that GPS is required.
RAAS Known issues discusses GPS input in the context of high accuracy position information.

PEI 3721

Thx for your input. The aeroplane I fly has no GPS but RAAS. In the meanwhile I received some valueable info from Honeywell about architecture of RAAS. Looks like EGPWS, which is feeding RAAS, has it's own GPS receiver. My FCOM is very thin about that stuff.

regards

Ah, one of my pet projects at our carrier.....

It is EXTREMELY IMPORTANT to have a direct GPS feed to one's EGPWS. Even an FMS with GPS position input/feed will not provide maximum protection.

Do a search on this forum or read:

This article was written by Mr. Don Bateman, a gentleman who all professional pilots owe a debt of gratitude....he is the person who invented GPWS and EGPWS.
