A380 wake separation

Not too sure about this - any comments?

An air traffic guidance document issued today by the UK CAA cites new ICAO regulations for the A380 wake vortex separation that drops the distance to 7nm for medium and small aircraft and 8nm for light aircraft. Guidelines for heavy aircraft remained unchanged.

Airbus have done a lot to ensure the wake turbulence on their aircraft was kept at a minimum so they could decrease separation.
Looks to me it worked. A380 wake turbulence is less than a 747 anyway.

Remember it's not all about weight, the 757 has the worst reputation concerning wake turbulence and you definitely wouldn't want to fly too close behind that one.

Think the manual states TO after 3min behind from the same position and 4min behind if the 380 uses full rwy and following a/c uses intersection for TO.

Landing 8Nm separation.

This is all based on the following a/c being a medium jet.
