Embraer 145 Series vs. Legacy

Been doing some reading on my current type, and its respective varients.

A few obvious differences grabbed my attention and I was wondering if anyone 'in the know' might be able to explain.

The 135/145 is limited to M.78 (red line and aural warning) but the Legacy is good all the way up to M.8 or a little higher (can someone confirm this).

The Legacy is also capable of cruising at 41,000 but the 135/145 hits the ceiling at 37,000.

My understanding of it was the basic hull was idential between types, along with engines and systems - although the Legacy does have winglets. Is there anything significantly different between them to explain the superior performance of the Legacy.

Sweet machine either way though
