Are things getting a little lost here. I seem to recall that the monitored approach is only used when the aircraft is being flown using automatics. ie. the FO monitors the autopilot and the captain gets his eyes prepared for the visual take over. All this is probably different with 3b on. I only have experience of 2 and 3a

The original post didn't mention LVP's, so assuming CAT 1 operations in a modern flight deck, most approaches are flown on the auto pilot, at my company there are calls made at the appropriate time by the NFP, am I glancing up, the answer is yes.
