Question A380 usable runways.

Does anyone here know how many airports around the globe can cater to the A380 ? Is there a list of user friendly airports.?
thank you .

It's not going to be the runway that's the limiting factor in most cases!!

The A380 has already visited more than 45 airports. By 2011, more than 70 airports will be ready for A380 operations.

it says here: http://www.airbus.com/en/presscentre...m_runways.html

BHX has been identified as a possible divert airport for the A380 by Airbus. However, There is no way it would be able to 'cater' for it on a scheduled basis. The required infrastructure would be missing.

You are joking about that. No way would anyone in their right mind choose BHX over LGW or MAN for the 380. It is scary enough putting a widebody in there now, let alone the thought of an A380!

Critical Whinge. What are you on about? Wide bodies are in and out of BHX every day. The snag with the A380 is airbridges etc. The A380 has no problems with landing distance etc, so it would be fine as an alternate.

I did say it had been identified by 'Airbus' as a possible divert airport. That's because it is possible to land one there. Would an airline list it? That is a different matter. Having said that, in an emergency they may be glad BHX is there...
